The Big Health Plan Update

I want a hot fudge sundae.

No, I DESPERATELY want a hot fudge sundae.

So, we started our spanking new health plan. I had no idea how much sugar I pounded in my mouth until the withdrawals started happening sometime this morning. Enormous headache. Flu-like symptoms. Overall crabbiness.

And this is only Day 2.

The shame.

My sweetie and I were starving by dinnertime last night because, apparently, we weren't quite sure how to eat well, so we ate little at all. I'm off to the grocery store to buy healthy snacks today, and the only thing we could come up with were grapes and Chex Mix. Geeze, you would think two educated adults could do better than this.

Any ideas?

When I was doing Weight Watchers, I ate a LOT of fruit - grapes, strawberries, apples, etc. Also, string cheese is good. Nuts are good for you, but don't eat too many =) Good luck!

RAW/NATURAL SUNFLOWERSEEDS...
it is hard to find a snack, where the B1 vitamin(thiamine) hasn't beem killed by heat. This vitamin is so important to brain health; plus the added brain food choline and all the other B vitamins make this the best healthy snack in my book. There are so many other nutrients in sunflower seeds too. Call around to all the health food stores; you should be able to get big a 2/lb bag of Rain Bow Acrea for about $4.35.

While you are thinking healthy, think about chia seeds too(energy booster). The list of nutrients these guys have goes on and on. I add about a tabs. to my WARM (add after the fact as to keep the vitamins alive) oatmeal, and they taste very good. Allow extra water because the seeds swell--good fiber--help stimulate bowel function.
RAW WEAT GERM taste good mixed with WARM or cold cereal. It has a sweet taste.
Use real maple surp and honey in cereal instead of sugar.
You can use these three...in many other ways, just be sure and keep the raw uncooked thing going on.
